St. Mark School E-mail Guidelines

When using e-mail kindly follow these guidelines:
- Do not expect an immediate reply.
- For medical or health concerns, please contact the school nurse by phone.
- Keep all contacts professional. Jokes, stories, chain letters or commercial solicitations are inappropriate and reduce valuable teaching time.
- Always identify yourself in the subject line of the e-mail. Add the name of your child if appropriate.

Also remember:

1.  Continue to follow school policy.  Do not send messages informing a teacher that your child is out sick, etc.  For example when a child is sick, school policy is to call the office and send an attendance note - do not substitute an e-mail for this procedure.

2.  The academic progress, learning expectations, behavioral issues of a child should never be addressed through e-mail.  A phone conversation or personal conference will be more meaningful and effective.

3.  Confidential information should be conveyed by phone or personal contact, not e-mail.

4.  Teachers read their e-mail at various timed during the day, such as before school or after school,  For this reason you many not receive an immediate reply.

5.  Teachers may choose to contact you by phone, personal contact or e-mail depending upon the content of an email.
